Today I will share with you a simple sensory activity set up like a little small world.

For this you can use all stuff you should have in your pantry:

Flour and oil and some flavor like spices, cocoa powder…

Simply mix flour and oil to a texture that holds its shape kind of like sand. You can add some spices or cocoa powder for an extra sensory component in your tray. It adds a nice smell.

Place everything in an oven tray or cake tin, plastic container... Pace a few bugs, characters, animals, sticks, spoons, stones... And let your little one create his little stories and explore this little world. Because it is all done with stuff from home it is also safe if you have a younger child that is mouthing everything:)

  • Sensory play: touching, rolling, squishing the moon dough…
  • Language development (creating her own stories…)
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Imaginative play
  • Connection with their senses, rubbing their hands, splashing them, mixing…This provides lot’s of different information for the smelling, hearing, touching, tasting senses. It is a wonderful way to help children to understand their own body and learn about textures
  • Focus on tasks
  • It can be very relaxing to squish the dough.
