Water play are always great for hot days. I love how the possibilities for water play are endless just with a box a bit of water a few toys, naturals elements, textures...
Today i used a few of the plastic fruits from my daughter "kitchen" and i had a mesuring cup from my kitchen tools in the water wagon. I like the mix children toys and adults tools as long as it is safe and well supervised.

She had few different size of fruits, she could put a couples of the small one inside the cup but only one big one will fit inside the cup. It is a nice introduction to mathematics and science how you can had small volumes to fit in the cup and how you can't fit more if you volume is almost as big as the cup.
Catching the fruit with the cup require some eyes and hands coordination as well as some fine motors skills. Childrens will learn about cause and effect like if they hit the water with the cup the water will do a big splash, if they move the water wagon it will create a wave....
